Position Details:
Grainger is using public cloud to deliver new experiences to our customers through modern software development practices. Cloud is where we are investing most in new capabilities to ensure Grainger maintains a competitive advantage. We are maturing our cloud security practices through partnership with stakeholders to enable Grainger to grow in this critical area.
The mission of the Security Architecture team is to assess risks and create designs which secure our global technology footprint. As a security architect, you will develop the patterns which support our business goals and strategies, focusing on cloud security.
Your scope of influence includes partnering with platform, infrastructure, and product technical teams. You will influence through leading deep technical discussions with Architects and Engineers.
You will report to the Sr. Director of Information Security Architecture & Engineering and may be based remotely or at our offices in the Chicago area.
You Will:

Develop frameworks and standards to drive strong cloud security practices.

Define the roadmap and drive cloud security service development integrated within Grainger’s hybrid, multi-cloud environment.

Identify risks and prioritize remediations through threat modeling, design reviews, white boarding, and evaluating the results of security testing.

Partner with engineering teams to build automated tools that help Grainger optimize MTTI, MTTR while enabling the engineering experience.

Effectively translate Grainger’s cloud security posture and advocate for the roadmap by engaging in formal and informal interactions with senior leadership.
You Have:

7+ years of experience architecting and/or delivering cloud or cloud security solutions for AWS, Azure, and/or GCP

College degree or equivalent industry experience in a technical field.

CISSP or other security certifications.

Experience in defining security processes and methodologies, a proven leadership/influence style, and customer-service-oriented demeanor.

understanding of the concepts and practices of security for containers, serverless workloads, the cloud control plane, and immutable infrastructure.
