Position Details:

 

In the role of System Controls Engineer, you will maintain all conveyor and building systems in order to support the goals of the Distribution Center.  You will provide leadership to other maintenance team members and manage various projects through completion.  A thorough understanding of PLC programming, electrical and operational controls associated with the conveyor systems and building equipment and components is required in order to maintain assets and provide maximum system uptime. 

The job scope includes recommending changes to and executing preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting and repairs to automated sorting equipment, AS\RS type systems, Cross belt Sorter, associated conveyors, material handling equipment, building envelope and building MEP systems.  This position will be responsible for properly completing work requests as well as projects of a complex nature. 

 

You will report to the Senior Facilities Manager and the location will be onsite in our Distribution Center in Louisville, KY.

 

You Will:   

  • Be the primary responder for all complex system issues involving conveyors, sortation and controls (EMS, WCS, Sort Director, EWM, BMS, Hardware, Software, and other applications/systems as needed)
  • Works in cross-functional teams and work groups to identify and resolve problems by proposing unique and innovative solutions.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and modify PLC ladder logic for MHE systems including PLC/PC Controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, Device Net, Profibus, motor control systems, Servo drives, variable frequency drives and electrical distribution systems
  • Partner with vendors/corporate business partners and cross functional teams both internally and externally on all DC projects, new equipment implementations, safety processes, decommissioning, CI efforts, and other processes as needed.
  • Subject matter expert on Arc-Flash, building electrical systems, and various other power distribution processes for the DC.
  • Trainer and subject matter expert on conveyance systems, software applications, electrical systems, IT infrastructure and various other building processes as needed. 

 

 

You Have:

  • 5+ years building and equipment maintenance experience. 
  • Technical or Electrical degree preferred with two years maintaining Dematic or similar type conveyor systems.
  • Completion of technical training in electronic controls, power distribution and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experienced with reading and interpreting MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics.
  • Possess strong technical skills to become subject matter expert for conveyors, crossbelt system, AS\RS type systems. Goods to Person Order Fulfillment Systems.
  • Design, implement, and document PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley) programming changes to automated equipment when authorized.
  • Troubleshoot, and implement changes to I/O device networks such as Profibus, Data Highway, and CanBus.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computers/computer-based monitoring equipment to diagnose material handling systems and building automation systems.
