Position Details:

The Grainger Corporate Safety Consultant role is a field-based position aligned to Grainger’s Largest Contracted Customers within National Accounts, Government & Healthcare.  The position’s goal is to help keep the World Working Safely and Sustainably.  We strive to be the trusted safety partner for people who build and run safe, sustainable, and productive operations. 

 

The Corporate Safety Consultant provides safety expertise, strategic safety advice, site safety assessments, product consultation and turnkey safety solutions at the Corporate or Contract Level of the organization.  You will also lead the development, coordinating the implementation, and reporting results of relevant Environmental, Health, Safety, Security & Sustainable solutions to our largest contracted customers.

You Will:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Safety, you will work with our National Accounts, Government and Healthcare Contract Managers to identify the right safety related contacts at the corporate level, understand their key safety related issues and objectives, and develop corporate wide offers including product, services, and solutions.  The Corporate Safety Consultant will engage the main safety related contacts at their aligned corporate organizations to drive new and incremental business and contract compliance.

 

You will grow safety related product, services & solution revenue within our Contracted Customer Base.

Develop strategic plans for account penetration.

  • Conduct needs analysis to determine a match between the customer’s requirement and Grainger’s Solutions.      
  • Lead safety related expertise efforts through:
    • customer discussions with relevant insights and challenges to help the customer think differently about their business.
    • explores expressed customer needs and identifies problems to solve—probes to clarify needs.
  • Utilize research to identify compelling reason to change.
  • Determine customer readiness, focusing time on those who are willing to take advantage of our products or services 

Provide customers with solutions that reduce costs or increase efficiency with creative product or service applications.

  • Develop solution options using ongoing dialogue with the customer and all available technology.
  • Works with internal Grainger resources, product manufacturers, and service providers to ensure ability to support identified solutions.
  • Perform cost savings analysis for customer solution.
  • Use probing questions to gain feedback from customer on customized solution    recommendations 

Implement Solutions

  • Engage Grainger resources to develop plan and timeline to implement solution
  • Drive implementation plan with customer and through other safety specialists
  • Check with customer to ensure needs are being met
  • Leverage post-implementation success to gain more information from the customer about future needs 

Maintain professional expertise in safety related regulations and industry topics

  • Educate customers on changing market and regulatory trends and technology and impact to their business
  • Investigate solutions that will profitably satisfy customer’s needs
  • Expand customer understanding and use of Grainger’s solutions.

You Have:

  • Strong business and safety acumen with the ability to understand financial reporting, to analyze safety needs, and documenting safety and health value to customers.
  • BS Degree, Masters preferred and 7+ years’ experience in an Environmental Health & Safety industry position or experience in Environmental Health & Safety consulting position or equivalent environment involving safety hazard analysis and assessments or 5+ years’ experience as Grainger Safety Consultant or Field Safety Specialist. 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other recognized Safety Professional Certification and maintain certifications and corporate EHS experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections to prevent injuries / accident prevention and reduction, engineering controls, ergonomics, and hazmat control to meet compliance standards. 
  • Understanding and awareness of safety regulations, safety applications, and the ability to distinguish market offers and capabilities Experience project managing. Experience building a safety culture and providing guidance related to safety violations, safety of drivers, and safety programs.
  • Ability to travel 40%.

 

 

Compensation:

This position is salaried and will pay between $101,000. to 140,000. plus 15% bonus eligibility target.  The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to: a candidate's experience, qualifications, geographical area, and internal equity of the team.
