Primary Function:

Leads strategy, implementation and manages operations for product Copy department that produces all digital copy content. Supports Publishing leadership to define vision that focuses on improving product selection information experience for customers through copy content. Develops, implements, and improves operating model to support vision. Partners cross-functionally to determine strategies that ensure Copy operations success as well as consistent and unified customer experience

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sets strategy for copy planning that maximizes efficiency while prioritizing value to enterprise
  • Actively partners with business stakeholders to ensure copy quality and efficacy for the business
  • Defines and maintains copy standards and guidelines to highlight the uniqueness of product assortments while providing a consistent customer experience
  • Determines strategy for use of copy that balances superior customer experience with cost efficiency and scale
  • Evaluates emerging technologies with respect to value add to the Copy operations and identifies opportunities
  • Responsible for operating model for Copy department: defining processes, setting technology requirements, and determining organizational structure and skillset needed to execute Copy work
  • Develops standard operating procedures, determines roles and responsibilities, and implements key performance indicators to measure operational health
  • Conducts regular operating reviews with Publishing leadership to provide visibility into areas of improvement and related initiatives
  • Accountable for copy content planning, operations, editing, mapping, and quality assurance
  • Manages operations across multiple locations: Lake Forest, IL, Chicago IL, and remote workers  
  • Manages external services and tools vendors across multiple dimensions: relationships, operating model, cost, and quality
  • Implements continuous improvement across department operations
  • Leads improvement sessions and coaches team members
  • Drives copy content quality audits and resolution
  • Recruits talent, develops skills and professional experiences of team members, and improves the performance of the team
  • Provides MRO knowledge to maximize copy content impact on customer
  • Manages a team of Copy Editors and Copywriters

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience in improving customer experience through use of copy content in e-commerce
  • Excellent process, technology, and team management skills in remote environments
  • Strong communicator and collaborator
  • Experience in copy content strategy and operations
  • Understanding how to influence search engine rankings via SEO content
  • MRO experience, understanding of industrial products and customers preferred
