Position Details:

The Sr. Manager, Inventory Management and Optimization reports to the Senior Director Onsite Operations and will build, deploy and improve the inventory planning process that defines how much inventory we hold and replenish at each customer's site through the Keepstock program. You will work with our field teams to consistently improve our inputs into the model including on hand balance, usage, target service and onsite storage capacity. This role directly impacts the value we provide customers as we improve their inventory investment over time and has a direct impact on the operating cost of the Keepstock channel as they support the optimization of replenishment quantity and frequency across our Keepstock customer base.

You Will:

  • Design and implement our onsite inventory strategy and approach, e.g. replenishment frequency, target service profiles, forward facing stock vs. overflow.
  • Build demand management and inventory models used to maintain inventory levels at the customer site
  • Consistently evolve individual customer site inventory plans to align to our onsite technology and team member investments
  • Create dynamic solutions using statistical models, machine learning or deep learning methodologies to determine ways to improve how we position and replenish customer inventory
  • Partner with supply chain to optimize fulfillment locations, replenishment cycles and processes, & customer visit schedules
  • Support adoption of our overarching product strategy, e.g. substitutions, product consolidation
  • Support adoption of vend ready strategy and corresponding adjustments to our onsite inventory plan

You Have:

  • Graduate degree (MS or equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics or a related quantitative field ideal
  • Supply chain and inventory forecasting and optimization knowledge
  • Data driven with experience with querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), statistics software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab) and data visualization software (e.g. Tableau)
  • 7+ years business experience with a strong working knowledge of Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Cost Accounting, Finance and Economics.
  • Must understand Company's business direction, customer requirements, supply management-marketing strategy, and demand generation fulfillment process.
  • Experience driving and demonstrating results financially, strategically, and managerially.
  • A clear understanding of suppliers, customers, Grainger's strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Ability to apply visionary thought process to construct executable plans.
  • Clear and thorough knowledge of the negotiation process and key stages:. Success in maintaining strong relationships and be able to influence them. Known as being tough but fair.
  • Proven Change Management skills by inspiring teams to welcome change, embrace new directions, and future opportunities. Anticipate change and prepare for it by defining goals, responsibilities and time frames
