Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $57,200.00$95,300.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 5 % or $ , based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Position Details

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the implementation and continuous improvement of Grainger's environmental, health, and safety programs by partnering with operations to reduce risk, support compliance, and promote a culture of safe practices. This role coordinates training and compliance activities, conducts inspections and risk assessments, supports incident investigations, analyzes EHS performance data, and provides day-to-day operational support across distribution center operations. This is an onsite position at Grainger’s Louisville, Kentucky distribution center requiring daily presence Monday through Friday.

You Will

  • Administer and support the Grainger EHS management system by maintaining program data, monitoring compliance activities, identifying trends, and recommending improvements that support company EHS standards.
  • Coordinate EHS training programs by maintaining compliance records, administering learning assignments, and managing Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) training and other required regulatory training programs.
  • Conduct EHS inspections, audits, and ergonomic assessments to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, partner with operational leaders to reduce risk, and monitor completion of corrective actions.
  • Support incident investigations through evidence collection, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and trend analysis to reduce recurring events and improve EHS performance.
  • Coordinate safety initiatives and support Safety Committee activities through meeting participation, safety observations, documentation of findings, corrective action tracking, and employee engagement efforts that strengthen the safety culture.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze EHS data to identify trends, support corrective actions, and provide operational reporting for assigned programs.
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Maintenance, Workers' Compensation, contractors, and other business functions to implement EHS initiatives, promote safe work practices, support contractor safety activities, resolve environmental, health, and safety concerns, and provide day-to-day technical support.
  • Maintain a visible presence in a multi-shift distribution center environment by engaging with team members, observing work activities, reinforcing safe work practices, supporting contractor safety, and identifying opportunities to reduce operational risk.

You Have

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Associate’s degree Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related field preferred.
  • 1+ year experience in distribution center operations, environmental, health and safety, operations leadership, or another operational environment where safety, compliance, and risk management are important. Experience supporting EHS programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulation relating to environmental, health and safety.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to reduce risk and improve operational performance.
  • Experience organizing work, analyzing information, managing multiple priorities, and meeting established deadlines in an operational environment.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information to identify trends, support decision-making, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to frequently walk throughout large distribution centers, including climbing stairs and navigating multiple work areas.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move materials or equipment consistent with job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including supporting multiple shifts as business needs require.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
