Position Details:

You will lead the accounting, analytics, and reporting including SG&A expenses and balance sheet items tied to cash, investments, A/R, bad debt allowance, prepaids, capital assets, A/P, leases, debt, intercompany, payroll and payroll tax liabilities and accrued liabilities for US and Latin America Controllership. Additionally, you will develop working relationships with business partners, controllers and our auditors.

You will report to Sr Director, North America Controller. You will have the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.

You Will:

  • Lead a diverse team of 28 individuals (7 of which are managers), including selection/hiring, objective setting, performance management, annual pay review, coaching, developing, training, and succession planning.
  • Set clear expectations with team members so the team is aligned and focused on key priorities; maintain team member engagement to promote productivity.

US Controllership

  • Take appropriate steps to safeguard company assets and ensure that all financial books and records are maintained following GAAP.
  • Perform financial statement analysis monthly to ensure balance sheet and income statement accounts are substantiated.
  • Investigate and explain unusual items and variances.
  • Oversee the US capital assets and general accounting processes to ensure activity is captured and completed correctly: journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure SOX controls associated with US capital assets and general accounting processes are designed and operating effectively.
  • Partner with the Treasury department to ensure cash flow needs are met.


Latin America Controllership

  • Manage the full accounting cycle for Puerto Rico & Grainger Panama Services; responsible for all balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements and footnotes for two entities above and facilitate annual financial statement audits performed by third-party audit firms.
  • Partner with third-party firms to complete monthly payroll processing, annual transfer pricing studies and annual income tax returns.

You Have:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in public accounting, internal audit or related large corporate accounting/finance experience, including direct experience managing a team
  • Knowledge about the following is required: US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and internal controls experience. 
  • Risk assessment experience to assess issues and develop action plans
  • Fluency in the English language


Travel will be required, approximately once per quarter associated with business projects or team visits. Travel will include domestic and international.
