Compensation
The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $78,200.00 to $130,400.00.

Position Details
Senior Accountants help support Grainger's strategy by assuring end-to-end processes, controls and accurate financials. Through review, analysis, interpretation of financial metrics and benchmarking specific to inventory related activities, you will provide valuable insights. You will report to Manager, Cost Accounting.
This is a hybrid role and will be onsite in Lake Forest Tuesdays and Lake Forest or Chicago (Mart) Thursdays.
You Will
- Apply GAAP while performing all Controllership activities
- Ensure assigned GL accounts are reported and substantiated.
- Prepare month end reporting and present analysis to Senior Management.
- Ensure all important controls over financial reporting related to revenue and customer incentives are designed and operating effectively.
- Support the quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audit performed by external auditors.
- Complete balance sheet and income statement analytics and explain reasons for large variances.
- Calculate essential metrics and explain deviations to historical periods.
- Improve processes and deliverables by automating and refining within Controllership and other areas outside of Finance to improve decision-making and controls.
- Partner with the business and financial management to understand sales performance and customer incentives for the business.
- Assess risks and opportunities and identify essential operational and financial issues to be addressed. Provide recommendations to guide our decisions.
You Have
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related major and 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience identifying risks to assess whether controls are designed and operating appropriately
- Financial statement knowledge including connectivity between Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements in addition to disclosure requirements.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with research and implementation of new accounting standards
- The ability to develop partnerships, and work with others to accomplish objectives.
- The ability to work in Lake Forest and/or Chicago with a hybrid working environment – In-person 40%; Remote – 60%
- Experience with Excel (can perform complex functions), Alteryx, Power BI, and Snowflake
- Not required: CPA certification; experience at a public accounting
