Primary Function

To provide secure transportation services to members of Grainger’s senior management Team, Board of Directors and guests in a safe timely and professional manner by recognizing potentially hazardous situations and employing defensive and protective driving techniques.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transport company executives to and from their destination in a safe/secure and orderly manner and to provide on-site security when required
  • Honest, punctual and reliable
  • Develop and plan routes and adjust travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction
  • Must be professional with a customer focus while performing their duties and possess excellent face-to-face interactive skills to communicate with all levels of management
  • Must be able to perform duties in a confidential manner ensuring confidentiality of any conversations, materials or information heard and/or observed during performance of duties
  • Willing to work long hours including after office hours, weekends and holidays
  • Must demonstrate sound and rapid decision-making under stressful or emergency conditions and have the ability to think independently to solve problems.
  • The ability to pass protective driving training courses, utilize GPS and have extensive knowledge of Chicago and the metropolitan area
  • Perform all administrative activities associated with the scheduling and execution of all executive ground transportation requests.
  • Keep assigned vehicle(s) clean and in excellent condition
  • Operates vehicles in a safe and legal manner
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years executive protection or professional driving experience with intimate knowledge of Greater Chicago and surrounding areas, including knowledge of heavy traffic patterns/times and preferred routesMust possess a current and valid driver’s license with no criminal moving violations, infractions or DUI’s in the past 7 years
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as determined by the company.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write and speak in a clear, concise manner.
  • Must not have a history of criminal or improper personal conduct that may affect suitability for the position (complete background investigation and drug test)
  • Be able to perform all tasks encountered in emergency situations.
  • Basic personal computer skills and familiarity with the Windows operating system recommended.
  • Certified in First-Aid, AED and CPR training; Must attend and qualify in annual CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Varying hours, including, but not limited to late evenings and weekends
  • Availability on short notice
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Ability to work with a diverse team
  • Law enforcement or military background preferred
