Position Details:

You will contribute to the planning and execution of the near-term product roadmap based on the strategic direction set by the Sr. Product Manager.  You will work with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch customer-focused digital product capabilities. You will be part of a team that gets things done. The Product Manager will manage portions of a digital product and report to the Sr. Product Manager.



You Will:

Define, develop and deliver Grainger’s digital publishing capabilities including but not limited to a public facing website. Your goals will include:

  • Refining product concepts and delivering capabilities for a foundational enterprise system that reflects business operations. You'll lead the product lifecycle for capabilities during requirements development, sprint team execution, and launch.
  • Strive to innovate and develop best in class digital solutions for Grainger to create a sustainable competitive advantage against our competitors. Aspire to develop the best digital experience in the MRO industry.


To achieve this, you will need to:

  • Build & maintain working relationships with peers and leaders in both technology and operational teams.
  • Work with the analytics and UX measurement teams to understand the user behavior on the website and strive to continually improve user experience.
  • Contribute to the Publishing product roadmap by assessing the opportunities and pain points  and author detailed product requirements. Partner with User Experience and Engineering teams to refine high-level concepts into detailed requirements.  Be the authority and advocate for your given area of focus.
  • Achieve customer value in an iterative schedule of releases. Coordinate and communicate launch activities across all partners. Manage schedules, mitigate risks, escalate issues, and balance tradeoffs.
  • Conduct demos and develop supporting materials for partners. Organize and develop content for meetings with the appropriate message for each audience.


You Have:

  • 2 to 4 years experience as a product manager delivering iterative technology improvements, and working with engineering, UX, and operational counterparts to create digital products or services in an Agile framework.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation mindset that results in the understanding of emerging technologies and how they might apply within the organization, as well as driving creativity, acting with agility and thinking outside current boundaries.
  • Ability to participate in cross-functional teams and navigate a matrix organization.
  • Insatiable will to get stuff done and experience working under pressure meeting aggressive timelines.
  • Experience participating in a portion of the digital product lifecycle, including prioritizing and delivering product improvements.
  • Ability to design scalable capabilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Willingness to ask why and find causes in order to identify the best solution for a problem.   Ability to use hard data to back up assumptions.
  • Experience building positive working relationships with peers. Ability to thrive in an environment of collaboration, transparency, and curiosity.
  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, science, math or related field. MS or MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise within industrial distribution or eCommerce a plus
