Primary Function:
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Brand & Retention Strategy and working closely with other members of Marketing, the Sr. Manager, Brand Development will own our brand positioning and test to build a successful media plan.  This person will evangelize our brand message and value proposition across all teams in the organization to create alignment and excitement while ensuring universal adoption. 


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development of a unique brand position and value proposition by utilizing insights, behaviors and feedback from customers (internal data and external research)
  • Manage external agencies, internal creative team and direct report(s) to assist in the development of the brand strategy, creative elements and roadmap for testing/measurement and full launch
  • Be the voice of the customer, sharing shopping behaviors, trends and insights that help all areas of the business to understand how the brand position aligns
  • Deeply understand how Zoro customers come to the site and shop, incorporating behaviors into brand work and testing
  • Review competitive research from top brands in MRO to identify gaps and messaging strategy, identify opportunities to increase customer retention
  • Partner with market research team to test messaging that resonates the best with our high value customers (existing) and shoppers (acquisition)
  • Grow Zoro’s brand awareness and presence organically and with paid media, over time, building on test results
  • Champion the voice of the consumer and brand position by providing clear, thoughtful and productive feedback during creative/campaign development and execution across the site and in external channels
  • Build relationships across teams and represent the overarching brand by presenting in company meetings, gathering stakeholders to create alignment from marketing through checkout, etc
  • Own the Brand Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) from planning to reporting to evaluating
  • Develop a brand positioning playbook (what brand stands for) and plan to ensure adaptation across the organization
  • Understand the customer experience from channel to checkout experience, recommending changes needed to comply with brand standards
  • Lead collaboration with Marketing Analytics on metrics and measurement solutions to monitor brand awareness trends across the funnel, through testing and execution (brandformance approach)
  • Monitor brand health and identify growth opportunities
  • Track and communicate corporate ratings and feedback scores



  • 5-7 years’ experience building ecommerce brand strategies 
  • Bachelor's degree or related professional experience
  • Experience in testing, iterating and scaling brand campaigns (brandformance)
  • Comfortable analyzing trends in data and performance; translate into objectives
  • Experience managing external vendor relationships, developing direct reports and influencing leaders across an organization
  • Strong negotiation, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to project manage/prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
