Position Details:

We are looking for a Sr. Non-Income Tax Analyst to manage the jurisdictional sales and use tax audits of W.W. Grainger, Inc., and Subsidiaries. Reporting to a Manager of Tax Reporting you will create audit strategy, manage audit flow and report on proposed assessments to ensure we are reserved and come to a reasonable audit conclusion. To achieve success in this role, you will need to demonstrate sales tax technical knowledge combined with project management, research, and technical skills to guarantee a successful audit outcome.

You Will:

  • Prepare and maintain sales tax audit plan, support data requests, and analyze documentation presented to auditors for accuracy and completeness
  • Analyze adjustment schedules prepared by auditors for accuracy, determine validity of proposed adjustment and recommend audit resolution action, acceptance of or protest determinations
  • Documented and communicated audit findings to help improve company's compliance and future audit exposures
  • Help maintain audit reserve on a monthly basis and in the preparation of a monthly reconciliation of the sales and use tax compliance reserve
  • Perform ad hoc tax analysis, modeling, and legal research. Recommend actions to partners and finance leadership

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance
  • 3+ years' experience with sales tax audit or compliance
  • Experience with sales and use tax concepts
  • Proficiency in tax search software, such as BNA or CCH
  • Organizational and time-managed skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Advanced ability to collaborate and provide guidance or recommend decisions
  • Worked with internal and external peers
