Position Details:

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager to join Grainger's Customer Insights team. The mission of the Customer Insight team is to provide all Grainger's customers and internal team members with comprehensive reporting, analytics and applicable insights that deepen our customer relationships and increase market share. This team builds systems and services to enrich data, produce advanced analytics, and serve relevant insights at scale to accomplish our mission.

 

You will contribute to the product strategy and roadmap of future products, with high degree of ownership over essential features and the customer experience. You will work with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch new aspects of a product. You will work in a matrix organization and combine a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. You will be customer-focused with experience creating successful products and services. You will report to the Director, Product Management – Customer Analytics.

 

 

You Will:
 

  • Conceptualize needs (expressed and unrealized) and delivering capabilities for providing our customers insights for all aspects of their MRO operations such as spend, supply chain and inventory, governance and compliance, and more.
  • Design systems that provide and use analytics to help our customers better understand and act for their MRO operations.
  • Lead the product lifecycle for capabilities from concept to launch, focusing on our external Grainger.com customer experience.
  • Manage the continued evolution and maintenance of parts of customer analytics capabilities.
  • Identify partners and build relationships across the entire business both with leaders and your peers.
  • Assess the opportunities and pain points for both our customers and within Grainger's evolving systems landscape. Use digital solutions and data to recommend and create a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Lead portions of the Customer Analytics and Insight product roadmap and author detailed product requirements.
  • Guide the creation of SaaS-based customer analytics micro-services and reporting dashboards.
  • Conduct analysis to aid with product concept, strategy and content while applying lean product principles
  • Be the authority leader and advocate for driving machine learning inspired improvements to customer experiences and insights across Grainger's channels.
  • Achieve customer value in an iterative schedule of releases. Coordinate and communicate launch activities across all partners. Manage schedules, mitigate risks, escalate issues, and balance tradeoffs.
  • Work directly with customers to capture client feedback to inform and enhance our product backlog and build processes and automation to promote continued client feedback.
  • Incubate pilot products, including identifying & analyzing important metrics to uncover reasons for success, reasons for obstacles and achieve needed enhancement.
  • Conduct demos and develop supporting materials for partners. Organize and develop content for meetings up to the VP level with the appropriate message for each audience.

 

 

You Have:
 

  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, science, math, design, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience as a product manager or related occupation. The five years of experience must involve: conducting strategic business and financial analysis, working with engineering, design, and project management counterparts to provide digital products or services.
  • Experience engaging customers throughout the product lifecycle from user research to troubleshooting of product issues
  • Experience designing complex solutions to create advantaged software
  • Experience managing products through entire life cycle – from creation to launch
  • Experience navigating a matrixed organization
  • Experience using hard data to back up assumptions and develop project business cases
  • Process design skills and operational orientation
  • Continuous improvement mindset that results in the understanding of new technologies
