Position Details:

The Manager, Product & Vendor Development reports to the Senior Manager, Vending Operations and has responsibility to develop new inventory management solutions and the vendor partnerships that support these solutions. Also, you will work with vendors to ensure we deliver each solution at the appropriate cost position. This TM will also work with aligned vendors to facilitate operational planning, so they have the appropriate capacity and meet Grainger's operational standards

You Will:

  • Leverage supplier relationships to bring new inventory management technologies to market for Grainger
  • Support strategy to determine the delineation of production activities between vendors and Grainger, e.g, what IP should Grainger own vs. supplier
  • Design a price/cost management strategy, which provides market competitive pricing, minimizes cost inflation, and improves return on invested capital.
  • Lead efforts to help improve supplier relationships with Grainger and make it easier for suppliers to do business with Grainger.
  • Establish and manage relationships with appropriate suppliers within the inventory management space. Will work with important decision makers within the supplier's organization including Vice Presidents, Presidents and CEOs.
  • Work with field teams to build market understanding and provide forecasts to suppliers to ensure they can meet Grainger's solution delivery needs
  • Work with vendors to resolve solution quality issues that arise from customers
  • Work with vendors to consistently evolve the effectiveness of their solutions considering feedback from customer and strategy team

You Have:

  • 7+ years business experience with a strong working knowledge of Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Cost Accounting, Finance and Economics.
  • Understand our business direction, customer requirements, supply management-marketing strategy, and demand generation fulfillment process.
  • Experience driving and demonstrating results financially, strategically, and managerially.
  • Possesses a clear understanding of suppliers, customers, Grainger's strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Ability to apply visionary thought process in order to construct executable plans.
  • Clear knowledge of the negotiation process and important stages: Sets high standards and expectations. Ability to maintain relationships and be able to influence them. Known as being tough but fair.
  • Proven Change Management skills by inspiring teams to welcome change, embrace new directions, and future opportunities. Anticipate change and proactively prepares for it by defining objectives, responsibilities and time frames.
