Position Details:

The MEP Engineering Manager will improve Grainger's building support infrastructure through life cycle management, new project specifications, risk management, defined standards and KPIs. The Manager Engineering Standards will report to Senior Manager, Engineering and can work from home. There will be some occasional travel involved.

You Will:

  • Document building infrastructure specifications and procedures for HVAC, power distribution, emergency back-up systems, energy management, lighting, and Building Management Systems.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and advise on designs through the MEP (Mechanical, electrical and plumbing) life cycle for Corporate and Supply Chain building infrastructure.
  • Audit project specifications to optimize operation and reduce project cost while ensuring the approach matches our internal standards and design criteria
  • Review and maintain MEP and equipment layout drawings for data centers, distribution centers, call centers, Corporate Office and branches with focus on resiliency, HVAC and electrical capacities.
  • Support and maintain corporate standards for performing preventive maintenance and repair on facility equipment for data centers.
  • Develop specifications, procedures and commissioning documents for related building support equipment. (UPS's, battery strings, transfer switches, switch gear, PDU's, HVAC)
  • Perform facility risk assessments and identify any single point of failure for escalation
  • Define and document global Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), Method of Procedures (MOP), Commissioning Standards and baseline building construction "Turnover Documentation".
  • Together with Enterprise Systems (ES) & Critical Space Engineer, will develop standard processes for installing equipment in data centers.
  • Develop baseline budget and forecast for building risk mitigation.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related fields preferred
  • 7 plus years of experience in a related field
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in building Infrastructure
  • Past work experience with anticipating trends, sharing best practices, identifying new methodologies and innovative techniques, and implementing new ideas
