Position Description

Primary Function


You will be the top finance position and trusted partner in E&R Industrial, a fully owned subsidiary of Grainger. You will lead all finance responsibilities including accounting, finance, cash management, compliance, and risk mitigation planning. Additionally, you will work with the Grainger corporate team and will help increase revenue and margin growth as an essential member of the E&R leadership team. You will report to the President of E&R Industrial.


Principle Duty

 

  • Be the Controller of E&R Industrial as a standalone business and subsidiary of Grainger.
  • Provide financial guidance to E&R leadership to support strategy execution of essential programs.
  • Partner with the Grainger Finance and Accounting teams to ensure accounting policy compliance; maintain and direct E&R's financial close process to ensure deadlines are met, while overseeing the efficient preparation of accurate financial information/statements.
  • Develop accurate and sound/reliable financial forecasts for E&R Industrial.
  • Build strong relationships with the E&R Leadership team.
  • Interpret and present E&R's monthly operating results, identify latest issues affecting performance, provide recommendations on proposed action plans.
  • Lead the quarterly business risk management process (representation Letter) so all leaders understand their responsibilities along with providing guidance on questions / exceptions.
  • Partner with E&R leadership to ensure compliance with policies and maintain an effective internal controls environment across the business.
  • Provide guidance to the finance team and create a clear plan to develop talent within the finance area with a view to succession.
  • • Manage the administrative reception and building maintenance activities for the Sterling Heights, MI location.

Position Requirements:

  • CPA preferred
  • 10 years+ of prior experience in a finance leadership role.
  • Financial analysis and financial reporting background or equivalent required.
  • A strong understanding of US GAAP and experience overseeing the close process.
  • A strong understanding and focus on the internal our controls process
  • Analytical and communication skills (oral/written)
  • Experience dealing with Sr. Management and teams.
  • Systematic thinker with the ability to understand the impacts of essential decisions and projects (beyond financials).
  • Excellent ability to produce and explain detailed proposals, guidelines and procedures and analyze and resolve complex accounting/finance issues of a broad scope.
  • Manage a motivated and engaged team and undertake the full range of responsibilities including development of the team to ensure their performance meets both the business and their own personal goals, and lead through change and growth.
