Position Details:

Reporting to the CHRO, this Vice President, Human Resources is an important leader and member of the global HR team of professionals supporting more than 24,000 employees globally. You will support our Global Supply Chain and Customer Experience organizations in the US and Canada. You will be a thought leader to ensure the businesses have the right talent, capabilities and culture to accomplish their strategies and plans. As a member of the HR Leadership Team, you will also contribute to the ongoing evolution of Grainger's talent strategy through participation in enterprise-wide HR and talent-related programs. The VP, Human Resources will provide leadership to an organization with over 10,000 team members and lead a team of HR Business Partners responsible for providing strategic human resources support to the business units.

You Will:

  • Partner with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness and draw upon your business and HR knowledge to provide advice and counsel as a strategic partner to the business leaders and client groups.
  • Lead and set the vision for HR within your client groups, working in partnership with other members of HR leadership and COE teams.
  • Help develop and implement the talent vision and strategic roadmap, including leading enterprise-wide human capital programs.
  • Help set the new standard for HR and reshaping, driving, and transforming the HR operating model and culture moving forward.
  • Manage a team of HR team members with a focus on building, engaging and developing team members.

You Have:

  • Ability to provide a balanced point of view to business conversations based on prior HR and business experience.
  • Maintain a "continuous improvement" focus on culture, talent acquisition, performance management, engagement and rewards strategies and practices.
  • People-management skills that will inspire and develop an inspired team.
  • Problem solving skills with understanding of important talent metrics.
  • Ability to make connections between the business and talent needs and how to best meet those needs.
  • Experience communicating and influencing at all levels, including providing important feedback and the ability to help executives, managers and employees navigate through difficult situations.


Education & Experience:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience as an HR business partner and/or COE leader. 
  • Experience supporting a supply chain organization beneficial.
  • Talent strategy experience, including compensation, total reward and recognition experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a talent-focused organizational transformation.
  • Experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience managing change, promoting innovation and improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
