A selected candidate outside of Lake Forest, IL may be considered for a remote/virtual work environment.


A Transportation Procurement Analyst creates and supports the implementation of reporting mechanisms and uses analytical tools to bring clarity to Transportation Parcel spend. Provides root cause analysis and identifies cost savings opportunities that support key team initiatives. Continuously looks for ways to improve effectiveness of the tools utilized by the Transportation department as the business strategy evolves.

Principle Duties/Responsibilities

  • Works with Manager and/or peers to support Parcel Procurement improvement initiatives and/or service and cost efforts.
  • Supports/drives analytics and creation of reports for internal and external business partners on a scheduled basis for their use in making informed decisions to effectively manage our carrier network. 
    • Simplify, enhance, engineer, and re-engineer basic reporting processes.
  • Shows financial acumen, critical and creative thinking, sound business judgment, including ability to derive the right conclusions from large sets of data coming from multiple sources
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively in various ways (e.g. written, oral, and presentation)
    • Ability to Partner and communicate effectively with external business partners/carriers
    • Support Parcel negotiation efforts and external carrier influence in alignment with Parcel strategies
    • Extrapolate data into written reports/presentations and contextualize analytics into business perspective
  • Comfortable performing go-see observations and working hands on with internal and external partners to drive results.
  • Engaged problem solving, using Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies, including willingness to challenge status quo
  • Maintain and measure previously implemented Parcel Procurement projects/processes
  • Collaborates with end-users to answer Parcel specific questions and provide additional insight about specific reports at the appropriate level of detail. 
  • Works closely with cross functional partners, understanding tradeoffs of business decisions and alignment of resources for swift completion of work.
    • Identifies and prioritizes current and future needs of internal business partners. 
    • Support strategy/vision for future network and all known changes
  • Able to identify problems and determine corrective action. Opportunities must be identified with sound and reasonable solution conveyed to appropriate parties effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated general understanding of key business strategies and how tools and reports support them.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with Supply Chain focus preferred; 1-3 years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access and other reporting tools and interfaces.
  • Strong Business, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in:
    • Basic understanding of the supply chain tradeoffs between functions
    • Analyzing data, developing a recommended course of action and implementing a successful solution
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively in various ways up to VP level of management (e.g. written, oral, and presentation)
  • Has proven relationship building skills and handles conflict gracefully
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to foster, manage and leverage relationships with team members and end users.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Self-directed with accountability to make sound business decisions while demonstrating effective time-management and multi-tasking skills.
