Position Details:

The Tax Compliance Specialist oversees timely and accurate data gathering to support sales and use tax audit data inquiries. You will review use tax transactions making first pass decisions on use tax applicability, will assist with heavy compliance deadlines for all areas of non-income tax, and will support other tax department initiatives as needed.

To achieve success in this role, you will need to have strong organizational and excel skills. Able to work independently with the ability to communicate and document results, status or questions for direction.

You Will:

  • Gathering document support for sales and use tax audits which includes exemption certificates, customer invoices and vendor invoices
  • Document and organize results of such data gathering
  • Maintain daily use tax queue, review use tax discrepancies from our procurement system, applying Tier I solutions; escalate transactions not resolved
  • Assist with all other non-income tax compliance as needed during heavy compliance cycles, i.e. Business Licenses and Gross Receipt Returns
  • Assist with group mailbox which is for internal and external inquiries
  • Other duties as assigned

You Have:

  • 1+ years of relative experience
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of sales and use tax
  • Proficiency in tax search software, such as BNA or CCH
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time-managed skills
  • Advanced ability to collaborate and provide guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
