Position Description

Primary Function:

The Talent Specialist is responsible for the support, analysis, and administration of talent practices and programs.  The Talent Specialist will work closely with the Talent team on various initiatives in areas such as assessments, change management, competencies, capability development, career development, employee engagement, leadership development, learning and development, organizational design, performance management, succession management, and team effectiveness. 

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Creates and maintains project plans for talent mgmt. and development projects.
  • Researches, benchmarks and develops new service offerings to support the talent needs of the enterprise.
  • Creates surveys and other information gathering tools.  Assesses survey data to find valuable patterns and trends.
  • Prepares information for participation in surveys, benchmarking projects and best practice sharing with other organizations.
  • Partners with external vendors to identify and vet their capabilities to assist in supplier line reviews and in identifying partners for new initiatives.
  • Works under the guidance of a more senior team member on vendor contracting, budgeting and invoicing.
  • Helps to create communication materials that support critical initiatives.
  • Supports and participates in reviewing existing talent solutions and on-going maintenance activities.
  • Creates and manages tracking mechanisms for various talent management and talent development processes.
  • Designs and prepares regular reports on talent practices and projects.
  • Manages, organizes and updates talent management and development knowledge used throughout the organization including HR Knowledge Center, Grainger Intranet, SharePoint sites and shared drives
Position Requirements:
  • Preferred Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Learning & Development or related field is preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience in related field preferred

  • Must be able to travel up to 20% within and outside the U.S.
