Position Description

  • The Supply Chain Analyst partners with multiple functions to gather inputs, criteria and desired outcomes to deliver analytics
  • and recommendations used during DC construction, expansion of existing site, renovations and improvements to existing
  • buildings. Works collaboratively with Network Design and Inventory Management to ensure analytics from all teams guide
  • decisions that support the design and build of the DC network.
  • Provides analytical support to the Supply Chain organization for maximizing storage and throughput capacity within our
  • Distribution Centers
    • Analysis includes visual and data observations
    • Analysis involves stakeholder input to ensure information is captured appropriately
    • Identify and resolve constraints within physical and systematic processes
    • Timely delivery of analysis based on pre-determined timeframes
  • Demonstrates analytical and decision-making capabilities in a proactive and consistent manner – analyst needs to
  • seek out information to validate assumptions
  • Supports planning, project, and operational activities through the following activities:
    • Assemble and analyze data for current and future state to support growth and expansion
    • Communicating and partnering with multiple levels of leaders both within the DCs and other Supply Chain functions
    • Provide benchmarking and best practice learnings from other projects
    • Identify opportunities for improvement on ways to optimize storage and throughput
    • Provide data and recommendations used by leadership who present to cross-functional stakeholders
    • Prepare data for leadership review to communicate to business partners at all levels as appropriate
  • Provides analytical support for planning, project management, and operational activities
  • Provides analytics and recommendations to Distribution Centers with steps to improve product flows and storage
  • space utilization
  • Assembles and analyzes data to develop the “story”
  • Accurately identifies problems and provides recommendations for solution
  • Recommends ideas that leverage existing processes to improve speed and scale
  • Works independently, within a team, cross functionally, and with outside vendors
  • Works with the Distribution Centers to enhance process flow and storage efficiency
  • Provides central support for DCs during new building, expansion and racking reconfiguration efforts
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work, quickly learn and become competent in, and effectively apply new skills and
  • knowledge
  • Audits accuracy of products against their assigned product locations to solidify data integrity
  • Consult with our partners on future state and pending projects
  • Commitment on deliverables of timeline and budget management
  • Partners within the DCs to create and promote an environment where team members are involved, empowered and
  • committed to the success of Grainger
  • Self-directed with accountability to make sound business decisions while demonstrating effective time-management
  • and multi-tasking skills

Position Requirements:

Up to 75% travel required.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred: degree in Business,
Supply Chain Management, Operations Management,
Industrial Distribution, or equivalent preferred.
1-2 years analytics experience.
Contributes on small to medium size projects with
complexity managed by process or standards.
Willingness to learn and be mentored by peers and leaders.
Partners with leaders on developing recommendations
based on analytical results.
