Position Details:


The Transportation Analytics team oversees the creation, production, and management of important metrics, dashboards, databases, and tools used to make decisions within Grainger Supply Chain. We have four essential pillars of work:


  • Build Dashboards
  • Manage and improve the Data Landscape
  • Systems Management and Partnering on Performance
  • Guidance & Support

As a Sr. Transportation Analyst, you will support reporting, analytics, and integrating solutions that solve important Transportation needs for the Grainger Supply Chain. You will help develop new solutions, improve current solutions, and help drive insights and provide strategic support to Transportation and other Supply Chain functions. You will report to the Mgr, Reporting & Analytics.


This role is located in Lake Forest, IL.



You Will:


  • Work with leaders on topics such as performance, costs, streamlining/automating processes, productivity, KPI's, and needs that involve systemic solutions in PowerBI, Teradata, or Snowflake.
  • Work with partners to produce, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to processes and information systems.
  • Understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements, recommendations, and implement solutions that help the organization to achieve its goals.
  • Observe current processes, and data with a Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Provide recommendations and lead discussions on ways to provide analytical solutions that may include implementation plans that includes a systemic component to reduce time spent on data mining or validating data integrity
  • Work with other businesses on programs and new projects to ensure standardization (SOP's) is being used
  • Document processes to build a library of solutions that future departments can use.



You Have:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Statistics, Information Systems, Business or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in a supply chain or a reporting, analytics and data focused role
  • Experience using analytics and data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, PowerBI, Tableau, or Excel).
  • Experience in SQL coding across enterprise data warehouses (e.g., Teradata, Snowflake).
