PRIMARY FUNCTION


The Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for the development and delivery of financial reports and analysis used by management to monitor Company’s financial performance and supports the preparation of the Company’s consolidated financial statements. The Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst interfaces with Finance and non-finance professionals in Accounting, Finance and across business and corporate functions as well as maintains the master data function for financial information to ensure data and integrity across business units. 
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Prepare financial reporting to senior management and Board of Directors, including company sales reports, performance measurements and various financial and statistical reports.
Assist in the monthly consolidation process and preparation of financial statements, including the identification, review and maintenance of US GAAP adjustments, holding company accounting, inter-company accounting and related internal controls.
Support various aspects of the preparation of financial reports with the SEC, for example statement of cash flows, footnotes and related support.
Research technical accounting matters and SEC requirements and assist with the company-wide implementation of new accounting pronouncements and reporting requirements, as needed.
Participate in the review, interpretation and analysis of key performance indicators, economic data and other management reports to assist management in evaluating business performance.
Assist Financial Reporting team in special projects, specifically supporting day-to-day operationalization 
Proactively highlight opportunities for process improvements, automation and standardization across business units.
Identify and develop new reports and analytics for management needs and analysis.
Maintain finance master data and chart of accounts (org structure, profit centers, cost centers, general ledger accounts).
Support the quarterly reviews and annual financial audit by external auditors.
Provide support in process documentation, internal controls testing in support of Grainger’s SOX compliance and special projects, as needed.
Provide support to other team members in the review and validation of reports and ad hoc reporting and analysis requests.
Support preparation of census and other government reporting.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar field required
CPA preferred
3+ years of relevant experience 
Strong competency in relevant SEC reporting and disclosure requirements and also of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
Experience in project management, including continuous improvement efforts related to financial processes, system and tools to optimize productivity and internal controls.
Proven analytical skills and ability to recognize unusual trends.
Strong sense of accuracy, attention to detail and organization.
Able to multi-task, self-starter and able to independently execute projects cross-functionally.
Able to work within deadline orientated environment, especially during the monthly and quarterly process is critical.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrate ability to develop partnerships and work with others to accomplish objectives and results.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel required.
Proficiency in computer applications such as SAP, BPC, Blackline and Workiva is a distinct plus.
