Position Details:


The Sr. Director, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is an essential leadership role within Grainger responsible for supporting and partnering with finance leaders across the business. You will provide both financial and business analysis to the organization to promote growth and increase profitability, and to support important financial deliverables including the annual financial plan, company earnings/guidance setting, and internal financial reporting and analysis. You will report to the Vice President of Corporate FP&A.

Oversee a corporate financial planning team that has a comprehensive understanding of key business drivers and financial models that allow the team to provide value-added analysis across the company.

Direct the corporate forecasting and planning processes that provide the CFO with perspectives on the future financial performance of Grainger. Advise management of risks to Grainger earnings and provide recommendations for earnings opportunities. Improve measurements, reporting, and related systems to enhance the understanding of Grainger's performance. Contribute to decisions that drive earnings and return on invested capital. Create awareness of developing trends that may affect future profitability. Monitor the status of important projects and implement solutions to ensure completion. Lead and develop Grainger's Corporate FP&A team.


You Will:

  • Manage a team of approximately 6 team members (includes managers and sr. financial analysts).
  • Prepare a monthly reporting package that includes full financial statements, comprehensive Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting, operational dashboard reporting, analysis of important business trends, actual versus budget variances and comprehensive executive level explanations of differences.
  • Promote a comprehensive process for developing financial plans and analysis that links to our strategic goals.
  • Develop and monitor our annual budget and monthly forecasts, improving upon existing processes to increase forecast accuracy.
  • Prepare and monitor our long-range strategic planning models.
  • Support quarterly external reporting, including earnings releases and earnings call support information.
  • Provide financial modeling, financial analysis and valuation support for acquisitions, operational expansion, long-term contracts and other ad-hoc financial projects.
  • Help prepare analysis, commentary and presentation materials for monthly finance review meetings and Grainger Leadership Team meetings. Ensure that the messages are clear, concise, and tell the story behind the numbers.
  • Maintain relationships with operations finance teams to ensure quality deliverables and proper information flow.


You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Approximately 10 years of proven finance experience.
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in a financial leadership.
  • Ability to analyze issues from different angles and measure the tactical execution of projects.
