Position Details
We are seeking a senior SAP S/4HANA Finance Transformation Architect to lead key controllership decisions and drive the Finance workstream delivery for our ECC to S/4HANA transformation across the US, Canada, and Mexico. Partnering with the Sr. Director of Controllership and periodically presenting to the Controller and CFO, you will translate complex S/4 capabilities into clear options, tradeoffs, and recommendations, and then ensure execution across process design, configuration oversight, system integration design, data migration and reconciliation, and cutover.
You Will
- Evaluate S/4HANA Finance capabilities (e.g., Universal Journal, Material Ledger, Margin Analysis, parallel accounting, document splitting, Fiori, workflows, and embedded analytics) and recommend what to adopt versus retain from ECC, including when to implement changes (pre-migration, at go-live, or post go-live) based on business value, compliance, operational impact, functional fit, system constraints, and data volumes.
- Define the target-state finance architecture and integration approach across the ecosystem, and provide leadership on finance data migration, reconciliation, and cutover planning to ensure audit-ready outcomes.
-
Executive Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership:
-
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Controller and CFO for aligning accounting practices, reporting requirements, and internal controls with the new system.
-
Bridge Finance and IT by educating stakeholders on key S/4HANA changes, translating complex topics into clear options, tradeoffs, implications, and recommendations, and driving decisions to closure.
-
Lead finance design workshops and govern outcomes produced by Engineering, BSAs, and the System Integrator to ensure alignment with the S/4HANA target-state architecture.
-
Guide the organization through key design decisions across Universal Journal and data model changes, New Asset Accounting, Material Ledger and multiple valuations, Margin Analysis, and parallel accounting, explaining financial, operational, and compliance implications in business-friendly terms.
-
Translate technical design into business implications for close, auditability, statutory and management reporting, and the controllership operating model.
Solution Architecture & Process Transformation:
-
Define and own the target-state S/4HANA Finance architecture and design guardrails, including ledger and parallel accounting strategy, controlling design, data model impacts, and integration patterns across the finance ecosystem.
-
Work with the System Integrator and finance leadership to define the end-to-end S/4HANA Finance architecture and high-level process design across Record-to-Report, intercompany, close, and reporting, including Universal Journal, Asset Accounting, Margin Analysis, Material Ledger, and integration to EPM and analytics platforms.
-
Partner with the System Integrator, BSAs, and Engineering teams to translate requirements into solution designs and high-level functional specifications and govern build consistency across workstreams.
-
Architect end-to-end system integration across SAP and non-SAP platforms, ensuring cohesive design across modules (MM, SD, WM and other logistics) and enterprise finance systems (tax, banking, EPM, and analytics platforms).
-
Drive finance data transformation resulting from the S/4HANA data model, including design of data products and extraction patterns to the data warehouse and reporting layers.
-
Ensure solution designs meet compliance and internal control requirements and provide oversight and mentorship to configuration teams and finance SMEs through implementation.
-
Define the finance reconciliation and audit readiness approach for conversion and cutover, including trial balance, subledger-to-GL, Margin Analysis, and Material Ledger valuation impacts where applicable.
Data Migration, Cutover, and Program Leadership:
-
In partnership with business leaders and the PMO, determine the sequencing and timing of S/4HANA preparation activities (e.g., Material Ledger conversion, Chart of Accounts mapping, data cleanup), and lead related workshops and POCs.
-
Define the Finance data migration, reconciliation, and cutover strategy, including required data cleansing, validation, and audit controls.
-
Partner with Internal Audit, IT, and Finance stakeholders to ensure reconciliation integrity and audit readiness for migrated data.
-
Define the approach to finance reporting continuity and reconciliation impacted by S/4HANA data model changes, including data warehouse and downstream reporting considerations.
-
Represent the Finance workstream in the S/4 program governance and steering forums, and drive issue resolution and escalation management for all finance-related topics.
You have
