Position Details:

The Grainger Inventory team is a collaborative team manages over 10 million stock keeping units and $1.5 billion in inventory across 14 distribution centers and 350+ branches in the United States. You will manage $60-120M of inventory at U.S.-based DCs as our customer's needs grow and change. You will partner with leadership at 1 or 2 DCs to implement the inventory plan and to ensure high service levels for product availability while balancing a productive inventory investment. You will work supply chain partners to ensure space, storage and labor requirements align with inventory needs, reporting to the Sr Manager, DC Network Inventory.


You Will:

  • Lead project and process work streams aimed at developing creative solutions and make recommendations to improve inventory performance
  • Develop relationships with supply chain partners (Distribution Center, Network Design, Engineering & Throughput, Space Planning, Transportation and Supplier Performance Management) to develop building strategies, identify constraints, recommend, and implement solutions to meet performance metric goals and long-term supply chain goals.
  • Analyze planning data and prepare reports for leadership review and communicate performance to partners
  • Develop the inbound product forecast to inform DC partners of labor requirements necessary to flow product into the Distribution Centers.
  • Develop forecast modeling based on historical data and causal factors to make recommendations for inventory strategies.
  • Perform gap analysis, identify causes, recommend, and implement supply chain planning enhancements.
  • Work with other analysts and management team to develop and perform analysis on supply chain goals
  • Partner with Inventory Systems team to ensure integrity of planning requirements


You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in analysis with an emphasis in logistics, forecasting/planning
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices and definitions, such as safety stock, EOQ, and carrying cost
