Position Details

You will sit within the Visualization portion of our Finance Continuous Improvement team and report to the Data Analytics and Reporting Manager – Visualization. The Senior Data Analyst (Visualization) analyzes, interprets, and creates dashboards to present our data, contributing to better decision-making and planning. You will provide data analysis including the conceptualization, modeling, and visualization of data. The Senior Data Analyst (Visualization) excels at turning information into insights and knows how this knowledge supports and enables important decisions and business processes. This team tells the story of the Grainger's data to the Finance organization and it's supporting departments.

You Will

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Balance and prioritize work on multiple projects.
  • Provide guidance in financial matters working with senior level leaders.
  • Breakdown business problems and identify the tasks, knowledge, and techniques required to determine and propose solutions in the context of the requirements.
  • Recommend and implement solutions that allow the organization to achieve its goals.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to create compelling graphics and dashboards for storytelling and insights.
  • Data Analysis: Conducts analysis of data from multiple systems.
  • Data Cleansing: Performs cleansing and standardization of data.
  • Investigate and recommend options for solutions.
  • Communications: Develops communication materials.
  • Be a liaison working with partners to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes and information systems.
  • Develop financial, growth and productivity metrics for the business.
  • Develop end-user training materials: Updating, maintaining, and facilitating enhancement of existing training materials.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Model complex data structures and systems.
  • Conduct analysis of data sources, data movement, and the development of migration plans.
  • Conduct external and internal research and analysis

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience within data analysis, reporting or business intelligence
  • Experience with visualization reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, Tableau Server, Power BI or other tools).
  • Experience organizing complex data sets using SQL in data warehouses (e.g. Teradata, Snowflake).
  • Broad business knowledge and organizational awareness and an understanding of business profitability drivers.
  • Competency in relevant financial skills such as P&L analysis along with other different decision-making financial analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of business operations, systems requirements and IT processes and technologies.
