Job Description: Security Engineer II – Active Directory


This position will protect the integrity and confidentiality of Grainger information assets while enabling business functionality in all systems and environments. They will provide advanced troubleshooting as needed in all systems across the enterprise related to Active Directory and Azure technologies. The individual will resolve and troubleshoot incidents that have been escalated from the team as well as analyze and recommend solutions to improve our current processes.

Major responsibilities and duties:    


• Build, Optimize, Troubleshoot a complex AD environment.

• Actively protects the integrity and confidentiality of Grainger information assets while enabling business functionality in all systems and environments by supporting applicable security solutions.

• Perform analysis, troubleshooting and remediation of issues within the AD & Azure environments.

• Engineer new solutions based on current challenges.

• Partner and execute advanced changes in the Security Landscape based on results from analysis received from Internal Controls & Compliance, Internal Audit, External Audit and other functions as deemed appropriate.

• Help to standardized documentation for support of assigned systems and applications and help to facilitate understanding and use within level one support organization.  Create documentation for self and peers.  Review documentation created by Administrators and Engineers and provided feedback for improvements and accuracy.

• Understanding of Cloud solution best practices and integration techniques.

• Provide 24-hour support on a rotating schedule




Years of relevant experience: 5+ years’ experience working within AD


Technical Skills:


• Expert experience managing AD within a large Enterprise environment.

• Ability to engineer new solutions as well as execute them to completion.

• Working knowledge and experience of Azure AD

• Knowledge and experience to perform upgrades on this system as well as analyze and recommend solutions for our current processes.

• Experience and hands-on working knowledge with a variety of Security tools including but not limited to Identity and Access Management such as LDAP, Active Directory, forensics software, security incident response, Splunk, Crowdstrike, and Rapid7.

• Demonstrates a strong understanding of troubleshooting and configuring windows servers and domain controllers.

• Knowledge in supporting identity access applications.

• Strong Experience writing, executing, and troubleshooting Power shell scripts.


Nice to have technical skills:

• Experience managing id’s within a privileged id management tool.

• Experience implementing Cloud technology solutions.

• Experience in implementation and management of security access systems within the enterprise and in the cloud (e.g. Federation, SAML, etc.)

• Experience with domain consolidation.
