Position Details:

This position reports to the Manager of Retirement Plans. As the Retirement Plans Consultant you will manage plan administration for the 401(k) plans and non-qualified plans at Grainger. You will ensure the plan is administered following documented processes, manage vendor relationships, ensure data integrity and resolve any escalated participant issues. You are also responsible for the annual compliance testing and audits and certain projects related to the plans.

You Will:

Manage and direct the outside record-keeper in the daily operations of the Plans to ensure compliance with plan documents and regulations. Interact and serve as the primary contact for managing all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual processing calendar activities, resolving escalated participant issues relating to vesting, investment elections, loans, hardships, distributions, contribution discrepancies, and resolving eligibility and payroll issues. You will also work with the Payroll department to resolve payroll adjustments and with the Treasury department to manage cash operations and funding of the Plans.

Calculate non-qualified supplemental excess benefit plan contributions and quarterly earnings to be applied to the participant accounts. Monitor our submission of payroll related data.

Manage compliance items including updating annual notices, review quarterly statements and SOC reports. You will also review summary annual reports, summary plan descriptions. in compliance with Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor. You will manage audit relationships and prepare appropriate audit schedules and oversee the annual audit of the retirement plans by the external auditors. You will perform annual testing to demonstrate satisfaction of coverage and non-discrimination requirements.

You will analyze retirement plan data and update quarterly dashboard of retirement plan results and support other financial wellbeing projects at Grainger. You will also work with technology resources on data feeds to ensure data is being sent.

You Have:

  • MA/MS/MBA or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in related field.

Looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in HR/Benefits with a background in qualified and non-qualified plan administration Proficient in knowledge of ERISA and IRS code as it applies to qualified and non-qualified plans.

Must work well as part of a high- functioning and integrated Benefits team.

Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) user, and ability to work in Word, PowerPoint and other systems.
