Position Details:

The Litigation Paralegal works closely with Grainger attorneys, and outside counsel and paralegals in evaluating claims and handling any related litigation.


Responsibilities will include internal fact investigations, discovery management, witness interviews and preparation, subpoena responses, drafting legal correspondence, and coordinating outside counsel. The Litigation Paralegal collaborates with Grainger business teams globally to gather and provide the information necessary to ensure that matters are handled effectively and efficiently. 

You Will:

  • Collect documents, analyze data, interview team members, and assist Grainger team members and outside counsel with investigations, litigation, government inquiries, and other matters
  • Collaborate with Grainger team members and outside counsel to prepare and finalize written discovery documents
  • Prepare/draft legal documents for review, approval, and use by attorneys
  • Maintain and oversee databases and other Grainger systems involving a wide array of matters related to pending and threatened litigation
  • Work with internal and external business partners and vendors to keep matter management databases up to date
  • Create and develop reports and maintain data to track metrics and analyze litigation and claims portfolio
  • Follow company records management policies and procedures
  • Communicate with insurers, vendors, and other third-parties on pending matters
  • Work on special projects and act as Legal Department liaison for product compliance related initiatives; support product safety related matters

You Have:

  • 3‐5 years of experience in a corporate law department or law firm with an emphasis in litigation discovery
  • Associate Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Paralegal Certification from ABA accredited program
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Word, Excel, eDiscovery techniques, and eBilling and matter management software
  • Knowledge of litigation concepts and practices
  • Experience with e-discovery, that is, the collection, processing, and production of electronically stored information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to problem-solve; multitask; and be highly accountable
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Uncompromising integrity and commitment to confidentiality
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and collaborate with all Legal Department team members and other areas of the business
