*This role typically is located in our Lake Forest headquarters, with the potential to work from our downtown Chicago office as well, but due to COVID-19 will be fully virtual until further notice.  Once these office locations have a return to work plan, the team member will be required to be on-site.

Position Description

Primary Function:

Reporting to the Director of Tech Operations PMO, the Analyst will be responsible for working with various systems to collect, analyze and report on data to support our portfolio and product organizations. This role will have responsibility for creating reports, synthesizing and visualizing insights to help facilitate data-driven decisions with key stakeholders. This candidate is expected to quickly build technical and data expertise about our project management systems, as well as the overall governance procedures used to manage our technical investments throughout the project lifecycle to ensure appropriate inputs are being captured to generate meaningful outputs and data-driven decisions.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be a Tech Ops PMO data subject matter expert who supports all operational processes from a data perspective, and ensures the quality, accuracy, integrity of the data being reported and analyzed.
  • Daily activities include providing subject matter expertise with our ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management (PPM) module by performing research within the source system, collaborating with stakeholders to provide reporting support (monthly, quarterly, annually and ad-hoc), resource group management and user access control functions.
  • Develop KPIs, reports and dashboards to track the effectiveness of current technical investments.
  • Work closely with dedicated business resources to ensure data and metadata is captured correctly, develop data quality standards, support data cleansing, scheduled update meetings and periodic data quality audits
  • Support all aspects of data measurement, monitoring and reporting metrics that are identified as critical to support defined business objectives.
  • Provide resource and team-management functions in support of organization and planning analysis activities
  • Conduct training for end users on new reports and dashboards and communicate best practices effectively to anyone in the company from executives to staff
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with a focus on what drives business performance and efficiency
  • Keep up-to-date and recommend improvements on existing tools or industry best practices.

Position Requirements:

Preferred Education & Experience: 


  • Expertise in the use of ServiceNow PPM, specifically creating reports and dashboards
  • Direct experience creating analytical reporting with at least one of these data visualization tools: Tableau, Power BI and SAP Business Objects
  • Experience delivering data-insight solutions to stakeholders across various levels
  • Expertise in the use of Excel and SQL
  • Experience writing scripts using JavaScript
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills
  • Experience in leading requirements gathering, data structure, validations, data quality, access, security, data cleansing and streamlining processes for data standardization
  • Preferred previous experience working within a PMO
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizations skills with an ability effectively manage time and competing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to resolve complex data problems with independent actions
  • Ability to work independently but will escalate to manager in a timely manner when appropriate
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
  • Open to and capable of receiving and providing constructive feedback in the sprit of collaboration and continuous improvement


Work Environment: 


  • Minimal to no travel required
  • Flexible work arrangements may include working virtual or from any of our Chicago campus locations (Lake Forest, theMart)
