Security Engineer III


Security Engineer III protects Grainger information assets by implementing advanced security tools, automating and integrating Grainger security tools and processes, effectively collaborating across the organization, and making smart long-term decisions. A successful candidate has expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Actively protects the integrity and confidentiality of Grainger information assets while enabling business functionality in all systems and environments by implementing and supporting applicable security solutions 
  • Lead technical implementation of Microsoft 365 DLP tools across the enterprise
  • Lead implementation and enhancements of security solutions for Office 365 and other cloud services – potentially including CASB and SASE solutions
  • Serve as a technical and security expert in enhancing and operationalizing email security – using Microsoft and 3rd party tools
  • Collaborate with other security engineers in management and improvement of security tools used at Grainger
  • Automate manual processes using PowerShell, Python, and other scripting languages to make our organization more effective
  • Effectively collaborates across Grainger to help with development and adoption of security best practices
  • Shares expertise within and across teams to help other team members learn and grow
  • Proactively and intentionally approaches continued education to stay aware of new technology and security trends


Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience or training in information security engineering.
  • 7 or more years required of combined IT and security work experience with a broad exposure to infrastructure/network and multi-platform environments
  • Experience designing and implementing Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance solutions
  • Experience implementing email security solutions
  • Experience automating security and technology processes
  • Knowledge of security concepts and frameworks
