Position Details:

As a member of Grainger's Controllership team, you will be a US GAAP subject matter expert, formulate technical accounting positions and manage financial policies. You will also lead standardization and optimization initiatives and best practices in Grainger's Global Controllership processes using tools such as BlackLine, Workiva and Tableau. You will report to Director, Controllership.

You Will:

  • Conduct research and analysis on complex technical accounting and reporting matters, including implementation of new US GAAP accounting pronouncements. Develop impact assessment, conclusions, technical accounting position memos and financial policies.
  • Lead monthly reporting process and financial analysis for Corporate Functions and quarterly review of significant accounting matters. Coordinate reporting of total company results to finance leadership.
  • Develop and maintain the Company's Financial Policy Manual; partner with stakeholders to drive policy compliance, training, monitoring and execution.
  • Manage the administration of BlackLine financial close automation solution, including technology upgrades, user support and controls. Drive standardization, best practices and automation.
  • Drive definition and adoption of Controllership quality and performance reports and dashboards to enable ongoing governance and process improvement. Lead Controllership policy and process documentation in Workiva.
  • Develop and supervise direct reports; manage contractor and consultant relationships; drive change management and build partnerships with global accounting, finance and other functions.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA
  • 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting research experience and knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • A track record of streamlining workflows and processes; demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships
