Primary Function:

The Manager, Supplier Contract Management has responsibility for end to end contract administration globally, including term changes and interpretation, performance management and oversight of contractual deliverables and obligations. This role partners with cross-functional stakeholders, identifying risks and opportunities in the contract lifecycle and producing quantitative insights for continuous improvement. This manager will help formulate strategy and initiatives that create value for the organization, while leading the ongoing production of reports to track KPIs, identify areas of improvement, and identify root causes of problems to form recommendations.


This is a visible role which requires the resource to influence and partner with senior leadership and key third-party providers.


Manager, Contract Management

•          Working with cross-functional stakeholders to analyze contracting issues, provide possible solutions and identify when additional information is required, while often serving as the first-level point of contact for these matters.

•          Analyzing, reviewing and/or revising various agreements with suppliers and other third parties, and their respective representatives.

•          Designing contracting workflow and related procedures, including managing contracting inbox, contract data entry, and contract reporting and analysis.

•          Handling specialized administrative functions, such as maintaining electronic databases and records, including files that may be subject to attorney client privilege, and performing other functions such as proofreading, redlining, preparing indices for documents, and updating templates or other reference materials.

Supports contract negotiation efforts led by global procurement and ensures supplier agreements comply to Grainger’s strategies, policies and practices


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

•          Manage a portfolio $4B of value and ensure all contracts are drafted expeditiously

•          Lead all contract generation per process in alignment with commercial strategy, including securing approvals from requisite departments for non-standard terms.

•          Responsible for driving process changes based on evolving business need and to improve productivity and/or profitability.  Must be able to balance voice of the customer with operational capabilities.  Must be able to solicit feedback, prioritize actions, and gain alignment & adoption from stakeholders on new or existing processes.

•          Identify key variables that influence the workflow process. Develop and implement changes enhancing workflow optimization including new technology solutions

•          Adherence to Internal and External Compliance across all processes


Preferred Education & Experience:

•          Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

•          7 years of experience in Product Management, or Contracts Management

This position can be based in Lake Forest or Chicago post pandemic.
