Position Description

Lead, build and maintain a framework for the annual marketing planning process that encompasses a holistic approach and alignment across the business. From this yearly plan, ensures alignment of the monthly marketing plan with the business partners, sales, financial and product plans; incorporates marketing-related measurement into the plan; and ensures the allocation of resources and advertising marketing expense are optimized to develop and execute against the plan.


Develops, orchestrates and leads the marketing planning process (e.g. milestones, participants, actions, templates, calendar), ensuring marketing’s goals are aligned with the sales, product and business partner objectives and that each function’s contribution to the plan is coordinated and aligned to help achieve goals – yearly, monthly, etc.

Provides a holistic view of plans prior to execution to ensure goals are met, customer coverage is reviewed and resources are available.

Develop and lead the cross-functional planning process with channel leads, customer strategy leads, business partners and finance to ensure accurate planning on an ongoing basis.

Manage all financial-related operations of advertising spend ensuring accuracy and reporting is aligned with finance on budget/forecasts on regular basis.

Develop and leverage broad influence across the department in order to continuously improve the planning process, on time delivery of projects and the tools needed to optimize budget spend.

Create and maintain a holistic calendar of marketing planned activities prior to marketing execution.

Ensures the marketing performance measurements are included in planning activities.

Owns and maintains overarching marketing calendar.

Continuous governance over JIRA planning board

Regularly reviews plan and adapts, brings forward insights to address change.

Responsible for managing the yearly budget strategy and oversight of the budget allocation and reconciliation process with oversight of all financial-related operations of advertising spend ensuring accuracy and reporting is aligned with finance on budget/forecasts. 

Lead and develop a team a team of Budget Operations associates.

Budget Operations

Facilitate Marketing expenses of $115M+ across 20+ owners to ensure they applied correctly and aligned to the correct budgets/cost centers so total roll up costs for Finance are accurate and variances can be identified

Ensure alignment with Finance on budget/forecasts

Facilitate the campaign and reforecasting process

Oversight of month end budget process

Oversee Marketing budget year end steps

Directs $100M + central receiving of all Marketing/Ecom and research invoices

Position Requirements:

7+ years marketing project experience, or equivalent work experience in managing multiple projects of similar scope and complexity

3-5 years in financial planning and budget management

BA in marketing, business, MBA preferred.

Prior team management experience of 5+ years preferred

Expertise in project management best practices, tools, and processes.  Certifications from PMI, or certifications in Lean/Agile practices preferred.

Strong experience in influencing vertically and influencing without authority to reach project objectives in a large, matrixed organization.

Creative problem solving on issues of large complexity in a manner that builds consensus across multiple resource pools

Sense of urgency and responsiveness

Detailed oriented with proven ability to consistently anticipate next steps
