Primary Function:

This role will be responsible for managing the team of editors responsible for website content creation for KnowHow, Grainger’s online content marketing platform. In this role, we are looking for an experienced people leader who has an extensive background in writing and editing online articles and managing the creation of other online content, including infographics, white papers, interactives and more. The person in this role will be responsible for KnowHow, ensuring all its content is of high quality and adheres to brand standards, reviewing all content before publication, and working with the editors and an external agency to implement Grainger’s content marketing strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced content marketer to manage a team at a Fortune 500 Company, with the chance to bring new ideas to the table and help craft and optimize the strategy for a growing B2B content marketing program.


Applicants must have excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to work on a large volume of different projects on varying deadlines while maintaining positive working relationships. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively translate content marketing goals into rich customer experiences that drive conversion, engagement and brand recognition. Experience in marketing or journalism and a solid understanding of content marketing practices are vital to this role.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

•          Responsible for implementation of the content marketing strategy on KnowHow, including writing and editing content

•          Contribute to the creation of the content marketing strategy

•          Ensure content meets/exceeds stated business goals

•          Collaborate with business partners across the organization to ensure content supports overarching enterprise needs and objectives

•          Responsible for implementation of distribution strategy for content – including promotion via social media, native, email, etc. -- and its adherence to goals

•          Manage a team of editors on the Content Marketing Team

•          Review all content marketing pieces, including website content, social media posts and other related posts, to ensure high quality, adherence to content playbook and optimization for SEO (natural search)

•          Manage the KnowHow platform from a content perspective, working with technical and SEO teams to ensure its proper function and strategic positioning

•          Maintain editorial content playbook and ensure its implementation

•          Mentor editors and foster their development

•          Respond to shifting workloads and multiple priorities

•          Adhere to schedules and maintain quality work



•          Multi-channel content marketing experience with strong content execution and management skills

•          Experience in editorial content creation with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high quality output

•          Strong understanding of and demonstrated experience in creating content with SEO best practices in mind

•          Strong people skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration

•          Remain current on content marketing industry best practices, tools, news, trends and the latest online strategies

•          Experience creating and implementing content marketing creation and distribution strategies

Preferred Education & Experience:

•          5+ years professional experience

•          BA/BS/BFA required in marketing, journalism or communications-related field

•          Demonstrated content creation and editing experience in either a brand or journalistic website or publication

•          Supervisory experience

•          Experience working in a CMS/content management tools

•          Vendor management experience

•          Understanding of HTML/CSS a plus
