Position Description

Primary Function

Drive profitable revenue growth by partnering directly with the field to develop strategic and competitive large bids ensuring speed to revenue when responding to large bid requests.  Incorporate Grainger’s strategic direction, profitability goals and supplier capabilities when creating competitive large bids while demonstrating Grainger’s values and performance drivers.


Core Responsibilities & Duties

  • Receive and respond to incoming large bid requests via share point and exceed weekly requirements.
  • Exercise solid business judgment in making critical, high-impact financial pricing decisions and create large bids to maintain a competitive posture in the marketplace while driving profitable revenue growth.
  • Using provided pricing tools, analyze provided data and collaborate cross functionally with various internal and external partners ensuring complete understanding of the opportunity to help execute the most appropriate pricing strategy.
  • Secure and apply vendor cost support commitments where appropriate.
  • Achieve and maintain superior service for the Sales Organization through different avenues of engagement in the Large Bid process (e.g. phone, email, IM.)
  • Reinforce contract compliance when quoting against broad‑based and complex contracts (e.g. WSCA, E&I, GSA, USPS, various State‑Wide and Corporate contracts, etc.)
  • Activate large bid pricing in the Quotations system following submittal of Large Bids and follow up with business partners.
Position Requirements:


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with various business partners
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP
  • Ability quickly understand change and be able to communicate and educate others
  • Ability to work independently and complete projects in a timely manner
  • Strong follow up skills
  • Leverages all available resources to prioritize and manage work requirements
