 Compensation:

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $143,000.00  to $238,400.00.  This position is eligible for participation in our short-term incentive program in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.

 

The range provided is not a guarantee of compensation.  The range reflects the potential base pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual base pay compensation will depend, in part, on factors such as geographic work location and relevant experience and skills.  The anticipated compensation range described above is subject to change and the compensation ultimately paid may be higher or lower than the range described above. 

 

Position Details: 

This role is a Infrastructure Architect – server, storage and automation platforms.  You will have an in-depth domain knowledge and expertise in server systems and automation.  You will have extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructure solutions with a strong focus on automation, Linux, and virtualization. You will collaborate closely with lead engineers and architects in Infrastructure, Security, Cloud Platform, and Supply Chain to support new technology and develop new services to support Grainger globally. You will bring a systems-thinking perspective, optimizing interaction patterns between capabilities within their specific domain and across domains with other Architects. 

 

You will report to the Director of Infrastructure Architecture 

 

You Will: 

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure solutions with a focus on automation, Linux, and virtualization. 

  • Drive the introduction and development of new self service offerings for engineering, product, and technology teams.  

  • Collaborate with lead engineers and architects in Infrastructure, Security, Cloud Platform, and Supply Chain to support new technology solutions and service development. 

  • Develop and implement automation strategies to streamline IT operations and improve efficiency. 

  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of IT infrastructure. 

  • Support project intake and the introduction of new technologies.  

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement. 

  • Document infrastructure designs, processes, and procedures for future reference and knowledge sharing.  

  • Prototype, PoC, and test new technology and drive the development of new service offerings in support of the business. 

  • Guide engineers through the implementation and introduction of Infrastructure technology solutions. 

 

You Have: 

  • 10+ years of industry experience in infrastructure engineering or architecture.  

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining large scale enterprise IT infrastructure solutions. 

  • Expertise in automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). 

  • Expertise in Linux and virtualization technologies (e.g., Nutanix, KVM). 

  • Experience in software development and API design a plus.  

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
