Position Description

The Inventory Policy Calibration team delivers and maintains a harmonized, end-to-end inventory policy across system calibration and offline capabilities.  These policies involve how the inventory team captures demand, makes stocking and de-stocking decisions, forecasts future demand, assigns planning values, and places purchase orders.  Our team’s primary focus is program classification, national (GUS) policy establishment, active policy monitoring, inventory investment prioritization, and department education.  We also advise business partners across North America on local policy decisions and inventory simulations.

 

Position principally responsible for:

  • Monitoring performance trends across various SKU populations.
  • Recommending and implementing inventory programs to drive improvement across multiple buildings.
  • Monitoring and analyzing existing inventory policies as our capabilities, network, and company outlook evolve.
  • Educating department on offline simulation utilization and policy rationale.
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis to understand root cause of various challenges and issues presented to the department.
  • Partner with Inventory Systems team to ensure integrity of planning requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with supply chain partners to identify constraints and develop solutions.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain, Statistics, Economics, Information Systems, or related fields.
  • Basic understanding of Grainger’s supply chain and tradeoffs between functions
  • Proficiency in analytics using SQL, Business Objects, and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work cross functionally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with senior leadership.
  • Proven analytic and quantitative decision making skills required.
  • The ability to influence decision making processes without having specific authority.
  • Has proven relationship building skills and handles conflict gracefully.
  • Strong time management.
