Position Description

The Enterprise Learning Delivery Consultant supports Grainger’s Enterprise Learning and Development Portfolio targeted at building and deploying learning to productively accelerate talent development at Grainger. This portfolio consists of a variety of Management, Career, and Foundational learning courses and programs. 

The primary focus of this role is learning delivery in face-to-face and virtual environments, coaching and developing business facilitators and preparing Guides and Producers to support Grainger’s Management Development programs.  The Enterprise Learning Delivery Consultant assesses program/course effectiveness, shares feedback and observations, and raises content and program improvement ideas to help strengthen enterprise courses and programs.  This role also contributes to the broader LTOE team by supporting team initiatives, projects or process improvement efforts. 

Executes Learning Delivery

  • Plans and delivers all specified learning activities for team members through a variety of formal and informal learning channels including instructor-led, virtual and other delivery approaches.
  • Translates adult learning theory into practical learning experiences and works successfully within cross-functional teams to plan, deploy and embed the knowledge and skills in the target audience
  • Creates a learning climate in which participants are engaged and eager to contribute
  • Maintains excellent knowledge of content, effective facilitation and delivery skills and latest knowledge of the education environment for effective delivery
  • Serves as a Master Trainer for specific courses or programs by participating in program development as a subject matter expert, conducts Train-the-Trainer sessions and supports new facilitators in delivery of course or program  content
  • Effectively utilizes WebEx technology to deliver virtual learning 
  • Develops and coaches other Delivery Consultants through peer-to-peer coaching and mentoring
  • Prepares business leaders and other SMEs to serve as leaders-as-teachers or to act as Guides or Producers for Management Development programs
  • Based on learnings, provides feedback and input to Enterprise Learning and Development Portfolio Lead



Drives Learning Transfer

  • Coaches leaders to assess team member performance and reinforce knowledge and skills to drive transformational learning into workplace performance
  • Uses quantitative and non-quantitative information to identify and implement improved learning and drive continuous improvement of learning deliverables.  Sees and raises trends to drive continuous improvement in COE processes
  • Identifies learning opportunities and creates reinforcement tools like job aids and other learning tools
  • Updates learning programs /content in partnership with Management Development resources
  • Identifies and shares opportunities to reinforce knowledge and skills in the workplace after the learning event concludes, leveraging learning interventions as levers to drive higher levels of workplace performance


Consults on Learning Needs and Priorities

  • Works with stakeholders to identify performance opportunities utilizing COE processes.  Works with COE, customers, HR and Development Consultants to provide solution to performance goals related to enterprise strategic initiatives.  Communicates performance opportunities that lack identified solutions to COE leadership using defined processes



Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS or equivalent preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in related field preferred.

  • Experiences: 
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Business, Human Resources, Education or related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in training field – learning and development or equivalent experience
  • High-level knowledge of Grainger business processes and functions
  • Knowledge and experience with Grainger’s talent processes and tools
  • Prior experience leading teams
  • In-depth knowledge and proven success in the adult learning, employee development, evaluation and consultation skills and delivery technologies
  • Proven background utilizing quality processes and learning approaches
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with geographically dispersed teams and team members
  • Experience interpreting measurement/analytics (data collection, analysis and interpretation) to support fact-based predictive decision making about learning experience effectiveness
  • Previous success in influencing without direct authority to effectively manage needs of multiple variable stakeholders
  • Excellent planning and consulting skills, including successful assessment of situations and data incorporating systemic thinking.
