Director, Talent Analytics

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Total Rewards & Talent Analytics, the Director, Talent Analytics will serve as Grainger’s thought leader supporting the talent data and talent analytical needs of the HR function across the globe. This role leads the internal practice-including people, processes, tools and techniques- that provide analytical answers to questions about talent and organizations.  The mission of this team ranges from talent reporting to appropriately scaled analytical solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategy Partner:

  • Provide thought leadership on the complete cycle of talent analytics
  • Partner with the all various HR and business partners to provide standard reporting, workforce planning support, analysis and recommendations. These partners include but are not limited to HR Generalists, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development along with various functional business partners
  • Manage a research agenda: that can range from curiosity in support of local continuous improvement efforts through GLT-level direction
  • Partner across HR and the business to implement solutions to close gaps and  create competitive advantage (develop and implement workforce plans, initiatives, and solutions that drive positive employee relations, support growth and drive business results)
  • Identify and bring awareness to unique or large HR-related business issues that scale across teams or functions
  • Provide insights, perspective, feedback and influence business leaders to make the intelligent decisions regarding people planning and forecasting

 

One HR:

  • Partner with HR domain experts to evaluate effectiveness of all HR investments and programs (e.g. inclusion & diversity, training, compensation, performance management, etc.)
  • Partner closely with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Enterprise Systems (IT) to build the required system functionality to collect, analyze and present data
  • Identify business needs and process improvement opportunities; collaborate with COE’s to assess and develop solutions to improve business results
  • Regularly conduct effective workforce analysis and measurement to assess the health of the organization and talent (external and internal inputs); proactively communicate the information and implications with the business and HR; provide insight / make recommendations regarding talent-related decision making

 

Culture Builder:

  • Build HR function capability through modeling and teaching problem-solving techniques and hypothesis testing
  • Train and coaching leaders regarding analytics to be more effective

 

Change Leader:

  • Coach and facilitate the business through the appropriate change management steps extending from data to ensure successful execution of key business initiatives and projects
  • Build the business’s capacity and willingness to change through analytical sharing and communication; help team members see the bigger context

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCIES:  

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field preferred
  • 7-10 years of business intelligence or data mining experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in research, applied research design, analytics, business intelligence and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with partnering and influencing at all levels of the organization
  • Strong presentation skills: ability to distill and present actionable information from complex research and present at various levels in the organization
  • Strong project management skills and stage gate prioritization
  • Communication (clear, inspiring, simple, situational, multi-level, multi-cultural)
  • HRIS Systems Experience such as SAP and SuccessFactors is a plus.
