Primary Function:

 

This is a key financial leadership role responsible developing the framework for volume planning and execution tracking, being the finance lead for gross margin, and supporting the pricing team. This leader serves as a key advisor and partner to the VP of Pricing and advisor to the SVPs of Sales around measurement of execution and long-term volume planning. This candidate will provide both financial and business analysis to the organization to drive the profitable sales growth and customer satisfaction. The analysis of key business and financial metrics will drive results and accountability within the supported teams.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead team dedicated to analyzing Revenue, Gross Profit and Volume performance for Grainger’s US Business. 
  • Build an appropriate financial organization to support the changing needs of the organization.  Develop the technical, analytical and professional skills of that group on a continuous basis.
  • Responsible for providing dedicated staff with guidance and direction to support the leadership team and the entire organization.
  • Team supports, Pricing VP and the Pricing Strategy Team, along with other senior leaders within Finance by interpreting business driver performance, providing forecasts of future performance, and driving strategic decision support that leads to profitable and sustainable long-term growth.
  • Identify, influence and adopt key metrics and forecasting principles, to improve overall understanding of performance and improve our ability to effectively project future performance. 
  • Leverage operational, investment and external data to improve KPI rationalization and ability to project future performance. 
  • Own the consolidation and overall financial narrative of the North American Sales & Service long range forecast and strategic planning process.

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

 

  • At least 10+ years of experience; Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred
  • Proven managerial experience of analytical teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer back thinking
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze issues from different angles and measure the tactical execution of projects.
  • Proven ability to lead people through change and growth.
  • Proven teamwork and people skills.  Ability to articulate key concepts, influence others and build a consensus across many functions.
  • Fiduciary responsibilities require the ability to act with integrity and discretion and sound judgment.
