Position Details:

Lead the assessment, development, and implementation of global IT strategy encompassing standards and global infrastructure, particularly EndPoint, network, voice, Storage, Middleware, Compute (VMs and hardware), Database and cloud connectivity. This role with lead cross-functional team of technical experts to create well-defined future state capabilities and transition plans.

You will report to the Sr. Director Infrastructure.

You Will:

  • Evaluate technology and industry trends and recommend high-leverage solutions for our business
  • Define governing principles to guide decision-making pertinent to infrastructure architecture.
  • Create governance structure that ensure alignment with business and IT strategies and goals
  • Consult project teams and business leaders to fit infrastructure architecture assignments and identify need to modify infrastructure architecture to attain project requirements.
  • Promote a standard architecture process with mechanisms to handle "paved roads" as well as architecture exceptions.
  • Support infrastructure delivery from planning through execution.
  • Evaluate and define architectural standards
  • Identify changes to technical architecture to better incorporate infrastructure requirements.
  • Consult with delivery teams to make sure the entire infrastructure solution is defined.
  • Identify changes to people, process, and technology which improve how infrastructure is delivered.
  • Document research and design work and have it peer-reviewed by other subject matter experts.
  • Define and advocate for modern infrastructure engineering approaches such as Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), software-defined networking (SDN), automated environment management.

You Have:

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a global distributed, service-oriented architecture (SOA) or multi-tier environment, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management, or operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of the IT industry and information technologies at a high and detailed level.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories in support of the Grainger Business strategy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated Excellence with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with adjacent architecture disciplines such as Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Application Architecture, and Business Architecture.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills. architecture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facilitation and organization change management
  • Experience building different types of architectural models (conceptual and physical) for different audiences such as executives, directors, and engineers.

  • Routing and Switching platforms (Nexus, ISR, ASR, Catalyst, etc.)
  • Routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, etc.)
  • Load Balancers (F5 Traffic Managers, GTM's and LTM's)
  • Wireless Infrastructure (Access Points and Controllers)
  • Datacenter Technologies (ACI, Nexus, etc.)
  • DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (Infoblox, Solarwinds, etc.)
  • Performance monitoring software (Solarwinds, Cisco Prime, Netscout, LiveNX, etc.)
  • Network Management (AAA, QoS, SNMP, Syslog, VTP, NTP, etc.)
  • Ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience with Agile/Scrum
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Office 365, and Slack.
  • Highly self-motivated.
