Position Details

As a Supply Chain Data Engineer II you will identify, acquire, and assemble assemble the datasets needed for analytics professionals across functions to generate business insights and take fact-based actions.  You will work independently to furnish an advantaged data warehouse so that team members can effectively execute their responsibilities for the betterment of the company and our customers.

You Will

  • Continuously identify and prioritize data acquisition targets in partnership with analytics teams across the GSC&CE organization.
  • Ingest needed data from various system sources into Grainger’s cloud data warehouse with low effort and high repeatability.
  • Create repeatable data transformations and aggregations adhering to quality standards that make the resulting “single source of truth” datasets easy for analysts to find, understand, and utilize.
  • Modify and enhance previously developed datasets in partnership with other functional areas as business conditions and strategies evolve.
  • Oversee the appropriate security classification of all GSC&CE data fields published to Grainger's public database.
  • Support the GSC&CE analyst community’s proficient use of the cloud warehouse through clear onboarding procedures and governance protocols.
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives that enhance analytics capabilities.

You Have

  • 3-5 years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Proficient utilization of SQL, Snowflake, Python, Docker, Apache Airflow, DAGs, MS Office 365, and data visualization software
  • Experience applying development and data management principles for business use
  • Proven ability to drive results independently using technology through effective decision making, end-to-end thinking, problem solving, organizational skills, and innovation. 
  • Excellent ability to deliver projects through planning, execution, and implementation either alone or in a team environment.
