Position Details

Applied Machine Learning applications under the Grainger business span the entire enterprise. Projects often encompass research, model development, testing, scaling and implementing in production. As a Senior Applied Machine Learning Scientist at Grainger you will work on some of our most important priorities for the next few years. Reporting to a Manager of Applied Machine Learning you will help develop machine learning and deep learning models and APIs that go towards building outstanding ML solutions.

You Will

• Participate in end-to-end data science project lifecycle – data mining and exploration, model development, solution deployment in production, measurement and tracking of Indicators.
• Use machine learning and deep learning techniques to create scalable real-time solutions for business problems.
• Conduct analysis of text data to understand the relationship between Grainger's product assortment and user search queries, industries, and job responsibilities.
• Transform data into relevant insights and models. Present clear results.
• Collaborate with teams and communicate results and ideas to decision makers.
• Design, validate and evaluate solutions using Python, SQL, shell commands and other programming tools and sometimes advanced data structures.

You Have

• MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Machine Learning, or Physics.
• 3+ years of experience in Data Science and advanced modeling.
• Accomplished in the Data Science domain such as NLP, Vision, or speech with interest in developing in at least 1 other domain.
• Experience with cloud computing solutions such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Experience with building and chaining machine learning jobs using frameworks such as Apache Airflow or Databrick's MLFlow.
