Compensation:

 This position is hourly. The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $27.93/hour and $34.90/hour.

Position Details:

This position's primary responsibility is to manage shipping order prioritization to maintain an even flow within picking and packing throughout the daily operation to meet customer order shipping deadlines. The coordinator may provide direction to the team with respect to transactional decisions that are needed to meet operational requirements. In addition, the DC Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the DC's compliance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations that govern the transportation and handling of hazardous materials (hazmat), exported products and other regulatory compliance items.

 

You will:

  • Ensure all of the right resources are allocated evenly across the different work areas to ensure all picking tasks will be picked within the established time stamps
  • Assign employees to work areas and user groups to complete specific tasks
  • Work with DC System Technicians and Inventory Teams to research and resolve picking errors
  • Team up with picking and packing departments to determine cadence release for even workflow
  • Update Cycle Time Reports for accurate display of metrics
  • Communicate with management on staffing decisions and manpower movement
  • Update forecast and cadence models to ensure accurate release of tasks
  • Provide subject matter expertise, perform and oversee pre-transportation activities to ensure the proper preparation of all hazardous material shipments and non-hazardous material shipments for domestic transportation. This includes but is not limited to, bill of lading preparation, truck load placarding, hazardous labeling and packaging
  • Be an active member of Grainger's DC Spill Control Team
  • Willing and able to fill in for other positions both inside and outside of ICQA including Inbound Check-In and Put Away and Outbound picking and packing depending on shift coverage needs

 

You have:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal/communication skills as this associate will be communicating through verbal and written channels with many levels of the organization to accomplish tasks
  • A high level of understanding and must be able to provide signature acknowledgement of Grainger's Hazardous Materials policy to confirm level of responsibility as outlined in the policy
  • Systems and personal computer literacy in Microsoft Office functions sufficient to leverage technology to assist in problem identification and resolution
  • The ability to multi-task over several functions of the operation to ensure daily requirements are met
  • Flexibility and ability to identify, prioritize and take action in any of their core duties as well as roles outside of these when necessary to support business needs
  • The ability to meet deadlines, be able to solve problems and make thoughtful decisions in situations where guidance may not be available
  • The ability to execute processes in a timely, accurate and consistent manner
  • The physical requirements for this position include frequently having to lift, push and slide packages that typically weigh up to 50 lbs., and my have to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
