Primary Function
Responsible for the operations of a specific process in a high volume, order fulfillment, multi shift distribution center. Manage all functions to ensure timely and accurate product receipt, order fulfillment and the optimization of resources and processes. Manage processes to ensure compliance with Company policies/procedures, continual process improvement and drive employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where employees are engaged, empowered, and committed to the success of the Company.
 

  • Provide a positive and equitable working environment emphasizing Championship Team Values and Performance Drivers.
  • Ensure products are provided to internal and external customers on time so that operating costs and process efficiencies are met.
  • Support DC wide strategic plan programs and activities.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement program, utilize LEAN tools and processes.
  • Responsible for performing initial root cause analysis and investigations in the areas of productivity, safety, quality, cycle time and other key performance metrics.
  • Trend and analyze process variations and exceptions resulting in lower than expected performance. Ability to implement audit systems and ensure compliance with processes
  • Proven ability to evaluate and determine ROI on projects and process improvements.
  • Form teams, lead LEAN events and implement solutions to drive results and operations excellence.
  • Support the DC Management Team in the implementation of projects within function of responsibility or other departments on the floor.
  • Ensure that all assigned projects and deliverables (i.e. action items, process improvements and other duties as assigned) are completed per the commitment date.
  • Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and other governmental agencies.
  • Ensure timely communication of issues that may impact quality, production, cycle time or employee safety.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with established department processes and procedures.
  • Identify/prioritize/provide resources to assist Operations Manager to meet the annual operating plan and budgetary commitments.
  • Effectively lead the department’s employees by creating/sharing a common vision/direction and an understanding of the organizations strategy. Deliver results in support of the company strategy and expectations. Ensure operational excellence within function.
  • Commit to employee feedback and development process – support development goals, conduct recognition and disciplinary action for employees, and facilitate employee success. Monitor and enhance employees’ individual performance through clearly defined expectations, training, coaching and counseling to achieve required results
  • Emphasize training and implement audit systems to eliminate process variation or discrepancies.
  • Set up and maintain department metrics and ensure employee understanding to help employees drive improvements.
  • Commit to employee feedback and development process – support development goals and ensure growth and success of staff.


Preferred Education & Experience

  • 3 – 5 years previous leadership experience in a high volume, multi shift, order fulfillment distribution center dealing with large employee populations. Undergraduate degree in business management, logistics, material management or related field of study required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive employee relations. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to directly supervise a team of non exempt associates.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and the use of LEAN, DMAIC, Six Sigma tools and programs.
  • Ability to attract, retain, motivate, develop and recognize a team of diverse individuals.
  • Aptitude for working with production, financial or other statistical data to analyze performance and results.
  • May be required to manage multiple departments.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively across vertical and horizontal lines.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to drive results. Ability to operate on tight deadlines with multiple priorities subject to frequent changes.
  • Demonstrated competence in the application and use of PC and operating systems.
  • Must be able to interface with multi shift operation and physically frequent all areas of offices, warehouse and external trailer yards.
  • Position may require occasional travel to other DCs, corporate office and field location.
