Primary Function

As part of our commitment to achieving excellence in data quality and upholding the highest standards across various functions, the Data Quality Specialist assumes a pivotal role in overseeing product information management at Grainger. Dedicated to ensuring precision and reliability in our data assets, this position stands at the forefront, engaging in researching, gathering, and safeguarding our product data to guarantee it is accurately captured from approved sources and appropriately documented.

This role demands timely execution of tasks, accompanied by thorough documentation and seamless handoffs to uphold Grainger's commitment to being best in class.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Navigate vendor websites to gather detailed product information based on specified attributes outlined in the product schema.
  • Extract and organize data such as product specifications, dimensions, materials, and any other relevant information.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of the SKU build process, including sources, methodologies, and any challenges encountered.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to address any discrepancies or missing information.
  • Perform quality checks on gathered data to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Address and rectify any discrepancies or inaccuracies in product information.

Education and experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Product Information best practices across data quality
  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on efficient execution and documentation of processes
  • Collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional partners, both internal and external, fostering strategic alliances.
  • Proven ability to independently research and extract information from various sources, especially vendor websites.
  • Proven experience in managing large volumes of product information and content.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish- Read, Write, Speak) with proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates a track record of navigating challenges independently, achieving results, and cultivating effective solutions through a solutions-oriented approach
  • Proficiency preferred with Access, SAP, Excel, and Word.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge with category review, new product introduction, and other merchandising processes preferred.
