Primary Function:

Provide leadership and general supervision to NEX employees supporting quoting service activity.  Responsible to drive first class service that enables revenue, profitability, expense, and operating earnings targets to be achieved.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute and manage to Standard Work in order to drive a high level consistent customer experience that differentiates Grainger from its competitors.   

 

  • Coach Team Members to compete with urgency through  Standard Work adoption, tool utilization, critical thinking, productivity, and quality to drive the best customer experience.

 

  • Drive employee engagement to create and promote an environment where employees are involved, empowered and committed to the success of the organization.

 

  • Monitor and enhance employees’ individual performance through clearly defined expectations, training, and coaching to achieve  organizational goals with regard to productivity, work quality and overall customer experience. Utilize the monthly 1:1 meeting to convey individual Team Member scorecards on performance.

 

  • Build strong relationships with internal partners and colleagues to ensure processes are effective while addressing the needs of the customer and the company.

 

  • Manage Daily Operational support of Standard Quote processing including:  Aging quotes in process, Quotes that have not been started yet, Quote Approvals & Cancellations where applicable, Large Dollar PO releases and situational Team Members questions .

 

  • Interface with Business Partners as towards Sourcing Goals of Timely, Accurate, and Competitive quotes.  Join DSM calls to foster Sourcing partnerships in an effort to bring awareness to Sourcing capabilities and processes.

 

  • Deploy to Team Members in huddles/meetings any Sourcing process changes and initiatives per Sourcing Deployment process; while driving strong communications that are consistent across leadership and help Team Members understand the why.  

 

  • Embrace change management principles in order to drive success into work. Embrace curiosity to ensure foundational understanding of the process is embedded in daily work. Be a good steward of the business to help and support others in the work through Grainger Edge .

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1-3 years previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to empower and engage employees to identify continuous process improvements and exceed customer expectations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to partner with people throughout the organization
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Empowered to influence key decisions impacting every aspect of Sourcing P&L.  This includes activities that drive superior service, sales growth, strong customer relationships, employee development, and expense/budget management
  • Maintains a strong cross functional network to ensure a personal and seamless customer experience through multiple channels, through demonstrated leadership and execution in the areas of talent excellence, customer service, aggressive sales growth, and cost to serve
  • Intermittent travel required
