You Will

The Sr. Specialist, Customer Strategy will conduct in-depth research of key customer segments to understand market opportunities, address gaps, analyze offers for the fit with Grainger's business model. You will help guide strategy implementations that allow us to grow and improve our market share, profitability, and competitive advantage. You will report to the Director of Customer Strategy.

You Will:

  • Conduct in-depth research on key customer segments to understand market opportunity, purchase behavior, competitive landscape, supplier performance criteria, in-demand products, related services, and the overall fit with Grainger's business model
  • Analyze "winning" market offers and thoroughly compare Grainger's current state to highlight key gaps to be addressed
  • Help guide execution (e.g., Merchandising, Pricing, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain) on opportunities to grow share in segment by improved offer or a tailored go-to-market approach
  • Translate growth strategies into relevant content and expertise that can be used by either Marketing or Sales
  • Create overall industry performance insights, multi-year industry roadmaps, and prioritization of important segments or special topics
  • Gather seller and customer feedback from select activities (e.g., roundtables, tradeshows, and third-party partnerships) on latest market developments for priority industry segments or special topics

You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a highly analytical role
  • Market research experience and familiarity gathering customer insights
